Singida sign Rwandan duo

Newly promoted Tanzanian side Singida United FC has signed the Rwandan pair of striker Danny Usengimana and right back Michel Rusheshangoga on two-year deals.

Youngster Danny Usengimana, who emerged as top scorer of the Rwanda Premier League for Police FC in the last two consecutive seasons with 16 and 19 goals respectively, is the latest signing by Dutchman Hans van Pluijm who is building a strong squad.

“This is a good move for me as a player as I want to test the waters outside Rwanda. I will work hard to make sure that I do my best to help my team,” Usengimana told supersport.com.

With an aim of challenging the traditional clubs like Yanga, Simba and until recently Azam, Singida have racked up new players from across the region to strategically give them the much-needed boost they so much yearn for to compete favourably.

Usengimana’s move is estimated at $100,000 while that of his countrymate Rusheshangoga is in the region of $50,000.

Rusheshangoga, who was a member of the Junior Wasps that competed at the 2011 Fifa U17 World Cup in Mexico, is expected to bring his experience to Van Pluijm’s side in their quest for greatness.

His journey from the U17 side to the U20 and senior Amavubi has been one of excellence and since joining APR in the 2011/2012 season, he has won the league title four times in five years and the Rwanda Peace Cup twice.

It is this sort of experience that Van Pluijm will be hoping the former replicates in the Tanzania Premier League.

Singida also signed Ugandan left back Shafiq Batambuze from the reigning Kenya Premier League champions Tusker as well as a long line of internationals from Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Pastory Athans (Simba United), Roland Msonjo (Mshikamano FC), Miraj Adam (African Lyon), Elisha Muroiwa, Wisdom Mutasa and Tafadzwa Kutinyu are some of the new faces at the club
