YOUNG volleyball players have been invited to join Nasoro Sharifu Volleyball Academy (NSVA) in Dar es Salaam, so as to develop their talent.
NSVA founder Nasoro Sharifu told the ‘Sunday News’ in Dar es Salaam yesterday that they are looking for youth between the ages of 18 to 24, to join the academy and form senior team. Sharifu said that apart from running a junior development programme, the academy is determined to develop and promote the game through senior team.
He said that the plan is to register a total of 15 players, who will form the academy’s senior team to prepare for both local and international tournaments next year. However, he said that only five players have registered so far after meeting the set criteria.
“We have started registration session last week and we are happy that many youth have shown interest to join the team, but most of them could not meet the set criteria. Only five players manage to meet the required criteria that include the age, skills, discipline and height.
“We are looking for 15 players, so the registration is still on, but we will do another session on December 10th, this year at the National Indoor Stadium for those wishing to join us,” he said. Sharifu said that players must come with original and copies of birth certificates for verification.
The NSVA was officially opened at the National Indoor Stadium in Dar es Salaam last month. Previously, it enrolled youth aged between 8 and 14, who have now grown up and have been promoted to senior team.
