Msuva out as Lyanga earns Kilimanjaro Stars call up

SIMON Msuva has been left out of the Mainland soccer team, Kilimanjaro Stars squad, ahead of the 2017 Senior Challenge Cup, kicking off in Kenya, next month.

Coach Ammy Ninje has not included Msuva, who features for Morocco top division side, Difaa El-Jadida, while former Simba SC winger, Daniel Lyanga, who features for Oman’s Fanja FC has been recalled in the team.

Simba’s left wing back, Mohammed Hussein, who has returned to full fitness, has also been included in the 20-member squad unveiled yesterday in CECAFA tournament to kick off on December 3 to 17.

Speaking to members of the media at Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) headquarters in the city, Ninje said the squad, which will commence camp on November 26, has quality players who will excel during the competition.

Ninje, who is an assistant to national soccer team, Taifa Stars Head Coach, Salum Mayanga, was officially unveiled on Friday as Kilimanjaro Stars Head Coach, ahead of the tournament organised by Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA). The United Kingdom based coach named the full squad as Goalkeepers: Aishi Manula and Peter Manyika.

Defenders: Mohamed Hussein, Gadiel Micheal, Erasto Nyoni, Boniface Maganga, Kennedy Wilson and Kelvin Yondani. Midfielders: Himid Mao (captain), Abdallah Hamis, Abdul Hilal, Jonas Mkude, Raphael Daud, Mzamiru Yassin, Ibrahim Ajib and Shiza Kichuya. Strikers: Mbaraka Yusuph, Elius Maguli, Daniel Lyanga and Yohana Mkomola.

Ninje is confident that his squad will excel in the annual tournament that will make a return after two years of hiatus. “Our main aim is to win the CECAFA tournament and bring it back home. We are ready to compete and fight for the glory,” said Ninje.

“I like to train players, who have three fundamental qualities, which are hungry for success, trainable and willing to learn. I believe that the selected crop of players contain these qualities,” Ninje said.

Adding, coach Ninje assured Tanzanians that he will do his job professionally such that there is no need for them to panic. “Tanzania has many talented young players who are eager to play professional football across the boundaries.

I am ready to assist them,” said Ninje. Kilimanjaro Stars have been packed in group A dubbed ‘group of death’ alongside Zanzibar, Rwanda’s Amavubi, guest nation Libya ‘The Mediterranean Knights’ and hosts Kenya ‘Harambee Stars’.

According to the fixture, Kilimanjaro Stars are scheduled to take on Libya in the opener of the event, whereas hosts Kenya will face Rwanda in group A on December 3rd.

The tournament’s defending champions Uganda Cranes are pooled in group ‘B’ together with Zimbabwe, Burundi, Ethiopia and South Sudan. Uganda will begin their title defence against Zimbabwe.
