Eight countries for KIA Marathon

EIGHT countries have confirmed to participate in the inaugural Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) marathon ahead of its gun off on November 19 in Moshi municipality
The organisers have estimated over 3,000 runners to compete in the maiden event as registration of the runners will officially commence early next week.

The KIA Marathon Director, Amin Kimaro named the countries as India, Japan, The Netherlands, South Sudan, France, Canada, Taiwan and Kenya. “We expect to register over 3,000 runners in the race that aims to promote both tourism and the airport,” he said.

According to him, KIA will start all processes as the entry port for the multinationals coming in Kilimanjaro as athletes and tourists. He said registration of participants will officially start on Monday, November 13 in various centres across Arusha and Kilimanjaro regions.

He said there are 13 registration centres in Arusha, Moshi and Boma Ng’ombe Municipalities. Explaining further, he said runners from Arusha will register at Mount Meru Hotel and Kibo Homes while those in Moshi will be enlisted at Cooperative College.


Other registration centres are Snow View Hotel, KIA and Meku Hotel in Boma Ng’ombe municipality. He said for those who registered through online registration can collect competition numbers at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
