Kiba-Nigerian duet seizes Coke Studio


IT was a golden show at 2017 Coke Studio when Bongo Flavour megastar Ali Kiba and the Nigerian Dance Hall artist Patoranking performed in what music fans across Africa labelled a golden duet.


It was one of the shows that made this year’s Coke Studio Africa a unique music showbiz. The Kiba-Patoranking collabo was produced by the Nigerian studio wizard, Mas ter Craft who fused the duo’s mega hits, Chekecha Cheketua of Kiba and My Woman by Patoranking.

“It was one of the historic duets and enjoyed Patoranking’s company,” Ali Kiba told the ‘Daily News’. Other top musicians who performed in this weekend’s Coke Studio 5 included Becca Group formed by Nigerian duo Becky Sangolo and Carol Kamweru from Kenya who collaborated with Olamide King also from Nigeria.

Music fans who watched the live performance admitted that this year’s Coke Studio 5 was expertly performed and some of them even claimed the shows helped put Africa together.

Other artists who performed this year, apart from those from Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania, others entertainers came from Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, Angola, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Togo, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Congo DR and Cameroon.

Most notable performance this year, according to the views included Khaligraph Jones and Band Becca (Kenya), Sami Dan (Ethiopia), Bebe Cool, Eddy Kenzo , Sheebah and Ykee Benda (Uganda).

Also won fans’ appeals were Nasty C, Busiswa, Mashayabhuqe from South Africa, Youssoupha from Congo DR, Runtown and Yemi Alade from Nigeria, Dji Tafinha from Angola and Laura Beg from Mauritius
